In this video recap, Dubspot DJ Instructor OP! talks about Record Store Day, the most anticipated day for vinyl enthusiasts and independent record shops. Record Store Day is an annual event founded in 2007, held on the third Saturday of April each year to celebrate the culture of the independently owned record shop. It’s a day for music lovers to come together and express their appreciation for records and celebrate a day of music. The day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores across the globe to carry on the tradition of going out to the record store and discovering new music . The event is so significant that independent and major record labels press records specifically for Record Store Day and are only distributed to shops participating in the event.
Universal Music’s sales manager, Marc Fayd’Herbe, has described Record Store Day as “the single best thing that has ever happened” for independent record shops.

This short film uses archival footage and current interviews with leaders of music explaining an audiophile’s holiday and some of their favorite records and what Record Store Day means to them.
