Novation Circuit | Grid-Based Groove Box

Circuit is a new grid-based groove box driven by two Novation polysynths and a four-part drum machine, combined with an intuitive 128 step grid-based sequencer. The standalone box comes loaded with built-in effects, eight synth macro controls, four drum parameter controls, a library of patches, and heaps of other powerful features.
“While Circuit is designed as a very simple device with a built-in speaker that can run off batteries if needed, Novation clearly wants it to be used as much more. When plugged into a proper set of speakers, the drums and basslines sound as bold as anything you’d get from Roland’s TR-8 and TB-3, which are probably the closest point of comparison. With six voices of polyphony on board however, the possibilities are much greater. As well as an audio output, Circuit has MIDI connections that allow you to use the sequencer to play external gear, so if the onboard sounds aren’t to your taste, it could be a very useful hardware sequencer.” Read more at Fact Magazine

Roland Boutique Series | Compact Sound Modules of Legendary Synths

The Roland Boutique series has just been launched, featuring all-new compact sound modules that recreate renowned analog synthesizers from Roland’s historic past. Powered by the acclaimed Analog Circuit Behavior technology, the limited-edition series includes three modules based on the JUPITER-8, JUNO-106, and JX-3P instruments from the 1980s. Loaded with hands-on controls derived from the original synths, each module can be used as a tabletop MIDI device or mounted in the optional K-25m Keyboard Unit to create a standalone compact synth.
“The most important thing about the Boutique series is that Roland says they’re powered by Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) – that’s the same modeling employed in the AIRA series, and it’s been pretty well-received there. They also give you a lot of hands-on control, and they’re not expensive. That combination I suspect will make them a big hit.” Read more at Create Digital Music
Arpeggio | The Portable Arpeggiato
Arpeggio is an instrument focused on letting you easily create, save, and perform melodies. It is inspired in part by the idea of an arpeggiator: a feature found on some synthesizers which instantly creates looping sequences of notes selected from the keyboard in real time. We expanded on this concept and created a completely new musical instrument designed to give you the freedom to create melodies with nuance and distinction. Read more at the Arpeggio Kickstarter page
