Dubspot Sounds V5 by Mike Kiraly

For this edition of Dubspot Sounds, Mike Kiraly from Sonic Scenarios handcrafted 14 MASCHINE Drum Kits made from custom samples recorded with precision using an Elektron Machinedrum, the drum machine that started Ekeltron’s long-running legacy of live performance and production tools. The Machinedrum is notorious for being a bit cold sounding, so each uniquely captured sample was recorded through various lovely front end chains to sonically enhance the sound with the highest attention to fidelity. A partial list of gear used includes the Neve 1073 Preamp, API 535-LA Line Amplifier, Rupert Neve 542 Tape Emulator, API 2500 Bus Compressor, Drawmer 1973 FET Compressor, Empirical Labs Distressors, Dangerous BAX EQ, Eventide Eclipse, Eventide H9, and more. Each of the six kits also received some final treatment and come equipped with their own linked patterns, sound level macros, and group level macros for ultimate usability.

His unique production ethic has always gravitated towards an intricate approach, relying heavily on imaginative sound design. The last four years have seen his portfolio broaden in scope, including on-site work as an audio and video cable technician for NBC Universal during the Olympics in Beijing, Vancouver, and London. In 2012, Mike undertook a new challenge with the launch of the video tutorial series Sound // Concept.
