This week on Dubspot Radio, DJ Baby K sat down with house music DJ/Producer and Dubspot alum, DJ Romain, for a chat about New York’s club history and his musical journey within it. He follows the interview up with a funky and soulful house mix that is sure to get you moving.
About DJ Romain
In the early 90’s (NYC’s) Romain started getting noticed as a prominent DJ from playing at the top clubs of the day like Palladium, Limelight, Tunnel, Sound Factory Bar, and Club USA. Romain got his big break DJing at one of NYC’s most famous “after hours” club called “Save The Robots.”
Back in 2000 Romain started a label called “Metro Tax” where he released his worldwide smash track “Philly’s Groove” with veteran DJ Danny Krivit. The track sold over 20,000 vinyl copies and
got major airplay on UK’s BBC Radio 1. Romains production style and brand of house music has elements of Deep Tech, Soulful House, Afrobeat, Jackin House, and classic 90’s House.
As a DJ/producer, Romain has been producing House Music for over 25 years. He has countless releases on some of the most influential labels in the world Such as Strictly Rhythm, Defected, King Street, Room Control, and Soul Heaven. Recently, Romain hooked up with poet and rapper Hakim Hunter, aka Hype Hunnets, and produced another hit called “Luv With The Club” on the German label AMA records. This year Romain will be touring Europe and DJing at this years ADE Conference in Amsterdam with some of the biggest names in House Music today. Look out for Romain in 2015 and beyond!
